The radically fierce and funny fireball he aims at our health-care system is a flat-out invitation to steal. First, Moore shows us how France, England, Canada and – yikes! – Cuba actually help sick people instead of letting them wither and die for lack of health insurance. Then he instructs us to loot those places for ideas. Anti-American? Hell, no. Moore argues that if another country builds a better car, we buy it. If it crafts a better wine, we drink it. Why not free universal health care?

I saw “Sicko.” When it was over I was embarrassed to be an American. I am ashamed to say that I was brainwashed in school to believe that Americanism was better than Communism or Socialism. I even won a medal defending the American way of life. I am embarrassed to admit that I helped start the Young Republicans in Florida in the “60’s. Why would a govenment think it was right and just to profiteer from medicine? Why should your health benefits be related to a corporation’s profits or dividends? I had a friend who sued Kaiser Permanente for not treating her breast cancer in a timely fashion. She won, and then she died. Isn’t it time to make sure everyone has equal, excellent and timely health care?

Another Thought
Gloria;
Maybe you might consider demanding your fellow Republicans get back to the great and wonderful IDEALS they once stood for. The culture of corruption, greed, and self-absorbed selfishness are NOT qualities the "old" Republicans stood for. They also did not stand for stripping away rights and freedoms of citizens of this country, they did not stand for breaking and ignoring the laws of this country.
In order to change this country BACK into the greatness it once was admired for, we all of faith, honor, compassion, truthfulness, and fairness MUST stand together no matter what our particular party affiliation and demand that those who "SERVE US" in office be above reproach and serve with the highest professionalism possible and demand they bring to justice those who do not follow not only the letter of the law but also those who do not follow the highest moral values of of the law and justice.
I urge you to turn what you feel as shame into action to right the wrongs of corrupt, denigrating, greedy officials. Do not allow this great nation to sink further into chaos and despair. Also realize it is not ONLY the Republicans who are shamefully corrupt, but Democrats are too. To right the wrongs, however, we all of good conscience must set aside titles and party affiliation to rid ourselves of this massive injustice.
